Sarıtaş Launches a Domestic Strategic Investment: Construction Begins on an 800,000-Ton-Capacity Integrated Stainless Steel Production Facility in Yalova
With more than 65 years of expertise in the stainless steel industry, Sarıtaş Stainless Steel, one of Türkiye’s most established producers, has launched construction of a domestically owned, fully integrated stainless steel production facility with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons at the Yalova Machinery Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB). Planned to be completed in four phases, the investment is expected to reach full capacity by 2030, making a significant contribution to both Türkiye’s industrial ecosystem and global markets.
Founded in 1957 in Istanbul’s Karaköy district and specialized exclusively in stainless steel production, Sarıtaş Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. aims to reduce Türkiye’s import dependency in stainless steel and increase export potential through its new integrated production facility investment in Yalova OSB.
The investment process, initiated with land acquisition in Yalova OSB in 2024, will be implemented in four phases:
- The first two phases, covering the installation of cold rolling facilities, are scheduled to be commissioned in 2027. With this additional capacity, Sarıtaş will reach an annual production volume of 400,000 tons and create 500 new jobs.
- The third phase, planned to come online in 2028, will include a hot rolling facility, increasing total production capacity to 800,000 tons and total employment to 700 people.
- By 2030, the commissioning of a steel melting facility will bring all production processes—from melt to finished product—under one roof. This will complete a fully integrated facility structure providing direct employment for 1,200 people.
Commenting on the investment, Ercüment Sarıtaş, Chairman of the Board of Sarıtaş Çelik, stated:
“This investment represents a strong step toward Türkiye’s industrial independence. The integrated facility we have launched in Yalova OSB is not merely a capacity expansion; it is a strategic move to strengthen domestic stainless steel production, reduce foreign dependency, and reinforce a high value-added industrial model. With this investment, we will manage the entire value chain—from melting to finished product—within our organization, meeting both domestic market and export demand through local resources. Industrial sovereignty depends on integrated structures capable of processing their own raw materials, and this is the vision guiding our progress.”
Designed with a Focus on Sustainability and Digital Infrastructure
The engineering and planning of the investment are being carried out in line with sustainability principles. The facility will feature high energy-efficiency equipment, process automation systems, digital traceability solutions, and waste recycling infrastructure. Through this approach, Sarıtaş Stainless Steel aims to set an industry benchmark not only in production performance but also in environmental responsibility.
Full Integration with Gebze Facilities
Sarıtaş’s existing processing center in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, currently operating with a team of 350 specialists and an annual processing capacity of 750,000 tons, will operate in parallel with the new integrated facility. At this site, Sarıtaş will continue to deliver value-added services such as slitting, cut-to-length processing, grinding, painting, specialized surface treatments, and anti-fingerprint coatings—providing flexible, high-quality solutions to the industrial market.
“We Move Toward the Future Through Production, Investment, and Collaboration”
Concluding his remarks, Ercüment Sarıtaş stated:
“For 65 years, we have believed in industry in this country and advocated the transformative power of production. Today, as a brand exporting to 74 countries, this investment enables us to strengthen not only our production capacity but also Türkiye’s global reputation. Sarıtaş is not merely a manufacturer; we are a solution partner for industry across sectors including home appliances, automotive, food, machinery manufacturing, energy, chemicals, defense, shipbuilding, and construction. We move toward the future through production, investment, and collaboration.”
