Sarıtaş Invests in Solar Energy to Advance Sustainable Manufacturing

Recognized for its high-performance production systems with a strong focus on energy efficiency, Sarıtaş Stainless Steelis taking a significant step toward sustainability through its Solar Power Plant (SPP) investment at its facilities in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).

With more than 65 years of expertise in the stainless steel industry, Sarıtaş Stainless Steel is preparing to commission the second phase of its Solar Power Plant investment at its production facility in Gebze OSB, as part of its strategy to reduce carbon footprint and strengthen green manufacturing goals.

Following the commissioning of the first phase in 2024, Sarıtaş currently meets 25% of its total energy consumptionthrough solar power. With the completion of the second phase planned for 2025, this share is expected to increase to 55%. Once fully operational, the Solar Power Plant will reach a total installed capacity of 3.18 MWp, generating approximately 3,786,000 kWh of electricity annually. As a result, more than half of the facility’s energy demand will be supplied from renewable sources.

Through this investment, Sarıtaş will prevent approximately 1,950 tons of CO₂ emissions per year, delivering an environmental benefit equivalent to the annual impact of nearly 172,992 trees.

Commenting on the investment, Selçuk Sarıtaş, General Manager of Sarıtaş Stainless Steel, stated:

“At our facilities in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, we actively operate high-performance production equipment and advanced process automation systems with a strong focus on energy efficiency. Our solar energy investment is a tangible reflection of our responsible manufacturing approach, strengthening our green steel production capacity. By reducing carbon emissions, we are planning not only for today, but also for the future.”
